Welcome to the home page for the Friends of the Hill & Son Grand Organ, a painstakingly restored late 19th Century mechanical pipe organ housed in the Barossa Regional Gallery in Tanunda, South Australia.

The Friends of the Hill & Son Grand Organ are a group of like-minded music lovers who help to maintain, promote and contribute to the rediscovery of this great musical artefact. We hold concerts and events not only with the Hill & Son Grand Organ, but also across the many other beautiful pipe organs in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.

On these pages you can learn more about the Hill & Son Grand Organ and its restoration, and view a gallery of beautiful images alongside short clips of the organ in action. You can also find out about upcoming events being held by the Friends of the Hill & Son Grand Organ, as well as information about contacting us and becoming a member.

Winter at the Hill & Son – Recording on the way!

It’s been a busy winter for the Friends! Not only have we had our regular Wednesday Organ Tours, but we’ve welcomed some very special guests, too!

First was the fabulous young Sydney based organist David Tagg (pictured), who made a mid winter visit to the Hill & Son to record our very first CD, ‘Soaring Sounds’. His amazing talent will shine in this new recording, set to be released later this year. We are anxiously looking forward to its launch, with a concert to celebrate! More news soon!

Second we enjoyed a visit from the Grade 4 class at Redeemer Lutheran School in Nuriootpa, who heard our very own Lorraine Gregory bring the organ to life. They had a wonderful time, and we thoroughly enjoyed their visit!

Stay tuned for more news and views, and don’t forget to check out our Facebook page!

Last weekend saw a concert with a difference at the Hill & Son – the talented duo of Adelaide organist Chris McPhee and vocalist Rosanne Hosking entertained a mesmerised crowd with a selection of quality tunes from stage, screen, and everything in between! From the haunting tones of ‘Phantom’ to a touching ballad by Billy Joel, this show had it all. It was a fabulous afternoon of entertainment, and the feedback from the delighted crowd was ‘we want more!’.

We have posted photos from the concert on our Facebook page, so make sure you drop by and check them out!
